This autumn, ULI has held UrbanPlan workshops in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands. UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging, and academically demanding classroom-based programme in which students learn about the fundamental forces that affect urban regeneration. It brings the urban environment to life for young people through a series of interactive workshops and team working challenges.
Twenty-five UrbanPlan workshops are taking place in the UK this month, in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Chester, Birmingham, Sheffield, and London. The workshops will reach approximately 850 students, and there are plans in place to visit a further 15-20 schools next spring.
After a successful pilot in Ireland last year, ULI will bring UrbanPlan sessions to 10 schools and 300 students in Dublin, Galway, and Limerick. The programme is also taking off in Germany, where another 10 sessions are being held. By the end of the year, UrbanPlan Germany will have reached 300 students, supported by 25 volunteers from the industry.
In September, ULI and Redevco, through the support of the Redevco Foundation, piloted UrbanPlan in the Netherlands. A total of 20 ULI members and volunteers attended the training sessions and the pilot workshop at Wolfert van Borselen Bilingual School in Rotterdam.
